OK, it's time to step away from the Raisin Bran. Just put those boxes down and - just find something else to eat or to do. Take some deep cleansing breaths maybe. Relax a little. There must be some secret ingredient that makes Skinner's Raisin Bran unlike any other! Any ideas as to what that might be? Girlfriend looks like she's been awake and wired for a week. Instead of cleaning the kitchen for the fifth time, she really ought to see if she can find a place for all the extra Ladies' Home Journals she bought for the coupons.

Maybe she's just lovin' all the regularity it's bringing into her life?
Hard to get excited about raisin bran. Unless there's some secret ingredient that was later outlawed by the FDA or something. I'm just sayin' . . .
I love this. I just thank God that I wasn't a 50s housewife when I look at that face. Your website reminds me of this book I've dragged around with me forever, when I want some perspective and a good laugh. It's called something like How to be a Great Housewife and was written in the 50s. It's the same kind of pitch... "if we all look and sound perky, we eventually will be, right?"
The grocery mart probably ran a sale on bathroom tissue at the same time, which is why she's so peppy.
I really am curious as to how Skinner's Raisin Bran is like no other. Fermented grapes, perhaps? If so, she'll be down for a nap before lunch, and hungover at the dinner table.
I've never been all that excited about Raisin Bran. Makes you wonder just what's IN it...
Don't think your post title has passed my little doggie eyes unnoticed or unappreciated. So sly. Chalk one more up on the "Witty Liddy" column. :)
Carol - I just find her thrilled expression so suspicious...
Margo - That sounds like a really fun book, actually! I love that kind of thing. As you can see.
Bill - Fermented grapes are a definite possibility in this case, I think.
Tori - Oh, absolutely. It is quite a mystery.
Max - Is there truly a 'Witty Liddy' column? I like that and I want to know what is on it, but won't ask because I am so unassuming and all. Ahem.
well as a housewife living in 1955, I have to say that I, too, would be excited about a coupon, although I never serve my hubby cold cerals, the closest I get is corn meal mush or oatmeal (steelcut of course!)
Yuck. What an unfortunate name for a company.
what makes skinner's raisin bran unlike any other raisin bran?
it's made with real human skin, of coure! nothing finer, unless it's fermented grapes!
Have we all grown so cynical that we can't believe that maybe she just likes Raisin Bran?
Maybe the wild look in her eye is from the persecution she knows she wil endure for stepping out and proclaiming her love for breakfast cereal?
Maybe this is her way of trying to convince Skinner to stay in the cereal business and leave the Durhum Semolina Pasta Products alone. This woman needs our help, not our censure, in her campaign to save the cereal!
Or, I dunno, maybe she's just nuts.
50sGal - You have an excellent point, it is quite a good coupon. I would probably prefer steelcut oatmeal though!
Frogs in my Formula - Yes, it is.
Dan - We may never know.
bluecocktail - Oh, dear, I hope they don't make it with that!
